Prince William and Sir David Attenborough launched the Earthshot prize today.
Back in the 60's, President Kennedy came up with the concept of Moonshot, which was an ambitious effort to go to the Moon. Moonshot has now become a word to qualify a very ambitious, challenging and long-term project to achieve something massive.
There will be five £1m Earthshot prizes every year, for ten years, in the following fields:
Protect and restore nature
Clean our air
Revive our oceans
Build a waste-free world
Fix our climate
The Earthshot prize has the ambition to become the "Nobel Prize" of the environment.
